Amoeba
Genus Amoeba
Fascinating Facts
They can move or change shape by projections of their cytoplasm called pseudopodia (false feet).
In tough conditions they can surround themselves with a hard, protective coating called a “cyst.”
Form and Function
Single-celled, shape-shifting, free-living microorganism.
Found most commonly in freshwater on decaying vegetation.
“Amoeba” comes from the Greek word for “change” and refers to a particular genus or any organism with a similar appearance.
